Here's a few things you might find helpful:
Microsoft
FrontPage
Micrografx Picture Publisher - I love this program. It's
so easy to adjust brightness and contrast (at the same time, with a joystick
thingy you drag with your mouse), as well as crop, resize, change file
formats (including .png), reduce file size (including altering the .jpg
compression ratio). It's also easy to drag and drop multiple images (great
for making banner ads). Very intuitive; you just start doing what you want
to with it with almost no learning curve.
Swish 2.0 - makes Flash compatible files very easily.
Great bargain at 50 bucks. Fun to use; make a Flash file in 5 minutes with
almost no learning curve. Now there's a newer, fancier version available,
too.
WS_FTP Limited Edition 5 - free. Nothing fancy, but does
the job.
Lycoris Linux Desktop/LX - great for when you don't want to use
Windows for some reason. Includes Netscape Composer, an adequate WYSIWYG
(what you see is what you get) program for editing web pages.
LinkShare - I found them the best of the traditional
banner ad affiliates. Their site is very east to navigate compared to some
other affiliate companies. Couple of timesavers: if you make banners and
they're not appearing on your screen, it may be Norton security software is
blocking them. If you fiddle with the settings, they should display. Also, if you use FrontPage you may need to "Paste Special",
then "Treat as HTML" so the code isn't changed.
