A used
hybrid vehicle might make a lot of sense.
There
are pluses and minuses with all vehicles. And the selection of hybrid
models has been pretty limited so far. Some models, like the Prius and
Ford Escape Hybrid tend to have long waits to actually buy one.
Looking down the road, we can see a nice array of hybrids that will be
available in the next couple of years. Models with improved safety,
visibility, and whatever you may need or want in a vehicle. But these
models aren't available now.
So,
what to do?
One
possibility is to get a used hybrid and drive it for one or two years
till the one of your dreams is available. You probably won't take much
of a beating money wise. Hybrids seem to be holding their value pretty
well. And your choice on the used market will tend to be better than
what you can walk get without a wait at the new car dealer. If you
check around at places like Carmax, you may be surprised that you can
get what you were hoping for without waiting. Another source is
EV
Rental. EV Rental is also a good way to try a hybrid for a
day or two to really see if you like it. They have locations at Dulles
and Reagan National Airports and at Union Station.
Happy
car shopping!
