if you planted a tree today...

During a 50-year life span, one tree will generate $30,000 in oxygen, recycle $35,000 worth of water, and clean up $60,000 worth of air pollution or $125,000 total per tree without including any other values!

A tree planted today can absorb a ton (2000 pounds) or more of carbon dioxide (CO2) in it's lifetime. That's the weight of a small car! All from a teeny tiny seed such as an acorn,

a maple seed

or a little seedling!

Anything you do that uses energy is likely to result in C02 being released into the air. An idea that's catching on is for people and corporations to offset the CO2 emissions they are responsible for by planting trees. Even celebrities are doing it! People can either plant trees themselves or contribute money to groups that are set up to plant trees for people. For instance, you can have trees planted in the same forest as Leonardo DiCaprio or in the Atomic Kitten Forest.
