At the 2007 Geneva Auto Show,
Saab revealed that plan on offering their first hybrid. The
car will use the hybrid system being jointly developed by
General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, and BMW. It is a "two mode"
system, which is intended to offer good combinations of power
and economy at both low speed and highway speeds. Saab is
owned by GM.
GM is currently working on a
Saturn VUE which will use the two mode hybrid system. It is a
more sophisticated system than in the 2007 VUE hybrid. Saab
Managing Director Jan Ake Jonsson said "we're very much
into that project, and we have in our future plans hybrids
which are based on the concepts that are being developed."
You can learn a little
about a
Saab concept car that
was shown at the Stockholm Motor Show in 2006.
Saab has not indicated when
the hybrids would be available for sale.
