Panasonic has developed a newer generation of Nickel Metal Hydride battery for use in hybrid vehicles.

Compared to the original batteries developed for the first Toyota Priuses and Honda Civic Hybrids, which produced 800W/kg, the new batteries produce  1300W/kg.

The batteries are expected to have greater  long life characteristics. They also take up less space compared to earlier batteries.
