volunteer dedicated to helping people with substance abuse problems,
with the national "Unsung Heroine" Award.

president of Alley Cat Rescue in
Mt. Ranier, MD is a previous winner of the Kindred Spirits award. ACR
has removed thousands of stray cats off the streets, having them
spayed or neutered, and finding them new homes.
Dr. Kim Danoff, of
Veterinary and Holistic
Rehabilitation Center
in Vienna, Vorginia. Dr. Danoff traveled to Mississippi after
Hurricane Katrina and rescued dozens of animals.
Thirteen-year-old
Makenzie Snyder of Bowie, MD has sent thousands of duffel bags and
stuffed animals to foster children since she was 7 to comfort foster
