Here's a couple shots of the
Lightning GT from the UK. It will be available in 2009, but so far,
not in the US.
It's got over 700 horsepower. Yet the
fuel cost (electricity) is about 1/10th that of a comparable gasoline
powered car.
An interesting part of the design is
that the electric motors are attached directly to the wheels. There are
no conventional brakes; the motors stop the car. One day many cars may
use this design, meaning no brakes pads to wear out or replace.
