Local McLean, VA author Carolyn Freas Rapp has written a really good book for people who feel gardening is something special. It's really a book of stories about women and the way gardening touches  their lives. It celebrates the special experiences that a garden can uniquely bring.

There is the story of a woman who turned to her garden to help meet the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. What a wonderful, life-affirming response.

There's a woman hair stylist whose garden is so breathtaking one client said he thought they had entered the Garden of Eden. People find her garden transformed by it's beauty.

You'll find a little about the Elizabethan Gardens at the Shakespeare Folger Library in Washington, DC by the curator.

One of the great things bout this book is it reminds us of the simple joys in life that we often forget, but are all around us.

You can learn a little about the 12 women at www.gardenvoices.com. You can order a signed and personalized copy of the book there. Also, Carolyn Freas Rapp is available to give talks.
