Ford will offer a hybrid version of the upcoming Edge
crossover vehicle. The vehicle is one of the growing trend of offers a
body style similar to a SUV, but with a lower center of gravity.
Instead of being built on a truck frame like some SUV's, it's built on
a lighter platform that's similar to what's used on the Mazda 6. This
style is sometimes referred to as a CUV (crossover utility vehicle).
The hybrid version of the Edge isn't expected until 2010.
The Edge will be offered in both a hybrid and
conventional design. There aren't too many details about the hybrid,
but as a point of reference, here's a little info about the standard
version.
