Here's a good video showing feature of an energy efficient home built in Florida. It's not a solar home, but shows other aspects of the design. The home meets the EPA's ENERGY STAR requirements for homes.

The beginning of the video concentrates on exterior and landscaping issues which are more relevant to a Florida climate. Most of the video about the actual construction of the home starts at about 4:50.

Area environmental resources  

Federal Tax Credits of up to $2,000 on a solar water heating system and up to $2,000 on a photovoltaic solar electric system are now in effect. Maryland has additional incentives. Ask your solar contractor for details.
