The 2008 Celebrate Fairfax showed a surprising amount of interest in "green" technologies.

Fairfax County has been evaluating a PHEV (plug in hybrid electric  vehicle). It's a modified Prius. With greater capacity lithium ion batteries, it can get as high as 100 MPG.

A placard at the fair describes the vehicle.

An electric low speed vehicle being used by the county; it's made by GEM.

A Solatube was on display. These can be installed by Brighter Innovation in Manassas. These bring a surprising amount of natural light into a room and can really make a room a lot more enjoyable to be in.

Brighter Innovation also installs solar powered attic vent fans.

Now cleaner burning diesel fuel is being used in some buses.
